When to see a private orthopedist
Most joint and back pain settles on its own or with rest and physiotherapy. See an orthopedic specialist when the problem persists, keeps returning or limits you, and above all when you need an accurate diagnosis before deciding on treatment. Situations where a consultation is worthwhile:
- Lower back or neck pain lasting over four to six weeks, or pain radiating into a leg or arm (sciatica).
- Knee or hip pain that disturbs walking, stairs or sleep, especially with advanced cartilage wear.
- Sports injuries: a locking knee, instability, swelling immediately after the injury, or a suspected ligament or meniscus tear.
- Shoulder pain with limited arm elevation, night pain or weakness, possibly a rotator cuff tear.
- Numbness or weakness in the hand and fingers, mainly at night, as in carpal tunnel syndrome.
- Foot deformities (hallux valgus, bunions), recurrent ankle sprains or Achilles tendon pain that does not resolve.
- Children and teenagers: scoliosis, posture problems, growth-plate fractures or an unexplained limp.
- A second opinion before back surgery, joint replacement or any planned orthopedic operation.

The doctor reviews your history, examines the joint or spine, reads your existing imaging and decides whether more is needed. You leave with a clear plan: conservative treatment, an injection, further work-up or surgery, including where and with whom.
What sets the center apart:
- A subspecialist for every problem. Instead of a "general orthopedist", each patient sees the surgeon who operates on that specific area: spine with a spine specialist, hand with the head of a hand unit.
- Senior physicians only. The orthopedists come from Hadassah, Ichilov, Shaare Zedek, Shamir, Laniado, Barzilai and Wolfson, bringing operating-room experience to the consultation.

Preparing for the visit and what happens afterwards
Bring your latest imaging (disc or link) with the written report, summaries of physiotherapy or previous injections, and your medication list. Note in advance when the pain began, what worsens or eases it, and which daily activities are affected. You leave with a written summary of the diagnosis, recommendation and next steps: referral for imaging, an injection at the center, a rehabilitation plan, or scheduling surgery at the hospital where the doctor operates. When needed, the doctor consults on the spot with the center's pain specialist or neurologist, and with your consent the summary also goes to your family doctor.

A robotic arm helps the surgeon plan and place the joint implant with very high precision, intended to improve implant fit, range of motion and the pace of recovery.
