Dr. Rom Matan is a specialist in orthopedic surgery, with a subspecialty in hand and upper limb surgery.
He serves as a senior physician in the Hand Surgery Unit at Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh), and is a member of the Microsurgery and Orthoplastics team – a multidisciplinary team that treats complex injuries of the upper limb.
Dr. Matan graduated from the Hebrew University School of Medicine in Jerusalem. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Shamir Medical Center, and then went on to pursue a fellowship in hand surgery at leading medical centers in Australia, where he gained advanced experience in the field of complex surgeries of the hand, wrist, and elbow.
During his work, Dr. Matan treats and operates on a wide range of upper limb problems – including fractures, tendon and nerve injuries, nerve compression syndromes, degenerative diseases and sports injuries. He is a member of the Israeli Association for Hand Surgery, a regular participant in professional conferences and courses in Israel and abroad, and a mentor for residents and medical students at Shamir Medical Center.
